Your Estimated Budget
2 adults, 5 nightsWhat does a Disney World trip really cost?
The average family of four spends between $4,000 and $8,000 for a week at Walt Disney World in 2026. That range sounds wide because it is: your resort choice, dining habits, and trip timing can swing the total by thousands of dollars. A family staying at a Value resort and eating quick-service meals will spend roughly half of what a Deluxe resort family dining at sit-down restaurants does.
The biggest cost drivers, in order: accommodation (30-40% of total), tickets (25-30%), dining (25-30%), and extras like souvenirs, parking, and Lightning Lane (5-10%). Flights are an entirely separate variable, which is why this calculator leaves them out.
Money-saving strategies that actually work
- Visit in September or early January. Resort prices drop 30-50% during Value season, and ticket prices hit their lowest tier. The parks are also quieter, so you get more done each day.
- Stay at a Value resort on-site. All-Star Movies and Pop Century start around $185/night and include free bus transportation to every park, eliminating daily parking fees ($25-55/day). You also get Early Entry, which is worth its weight in gold for riding headliners with short waits.
- Eat quick-service for two meals a day. A family can eat well at quick-service locations for $50-60 per person per day. Save sit-down dining for one or two special evenings. Disney's mobile ordering makes quick-service fast and painless.
- Buy multi-day tickets. The per-day ticket price drops dramatically after 3 days. A 1-day ticket is $139/day, but a 5-day ticket works out to just $101/day. The longer you stay, the cheaper each park day becomes.
- Bring ponchos and glow sticks from home. A $1 poncho from a pound shop is identical to the $15 Disney-branded version. Same goes for glow sticks, autograph books, and refillable water bottles.
- Skip Park Hopper unless you have 7+ days. For shorter trips, Base Tickets give you one park per day, which is plenty. The Park Hopper add-on costs $65/ticket and is best for longer stays where you want afternoon flexibility.
What the calculator includes and what it does not
This calculator covers the four main expense categories: resort accommodation, theme park tickets, dining, and a flat extras allowance for souvenirs, snacks, and parking (if off-site). It does not include flights, Lightning Lane purchases, special events (like Halloween or Christmas parties), spa visits, or rental cars. For most families, the four categories above account for 85-90% of total trip spending.
