Resort Comparisons
With over 25 resort options at Walt Disney World, choosing the right one comes down to budget, transport preferences, and what kind of experience you want. Below are the most common comparisons guests wrestle with, along with a clear verdict for each. Use the resort price tracker above to check current rates for your dates.
These two Value resorts share the Skyliner station (via a bridge), giving both direct gondola access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios -- a major advantage over the other Value resorts that are bus-only. Pop Century standard rooms start around $130-170/night, while Art of Animation standard rooms (Little Mermaid wing) run $10-20 more. The real difference is Art of Animation's Family Suites ($300-400/night), which sleep six with a kitchenette and separate living area -- there is nothing comparable at Pop Century. The vibe at Art of Animation is more immersive and colourful (Cars, Nemo, Lion King theming), while Pop Century feels more understated. Verdict: Pop Century for couples and budget-focused families; Art of Animation Family Suites for larger families who need the space. Both are excellent for the price thanks to the Skyliner.
Both Moderate resorts, but very different vibes. Caribbean Beach ($210-280/night) is spread across themed "islands" around a central lagoon, with a laid-back tropical atmosphere and Skyliner access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Coronado Springs ($230-350/night) has a more upscale, convention-hotel feel, especially in the Gran Destino Tower -- which has some of the best rooms-per-dollar on property with its rooftop bar and modern design. Caribbean Beach is bus-only to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom but has the Skyliner edge for two parks. Coronado Springs is bus-only everywhere. Verdict: Caribbean Beach for families (Skyliner access is a game-changer with kids); Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower for couples or adults wanting a more refined experience at a moderate price point.
The two Monorail Deluxe resorts closest to Magic Kingdom, and the most debated resort comparison at Walt Disney World. The Contemporary ($450-650/night for tower rooms) is walking distance to Magic Kingdom -- a 10-minute stroll that avoids bus and monorail waits entirely. Tower rooms have sweeping views of the park and fireworks from your balcony. The Polynesian ($500-700/night) has arguably the best theming on property, with its tropical lobby, Trader Sam's Grog Grotto, and lagoon-view rooms where you can watch fireworks from the beach. Both have Monorail access. The Contemporary recently renovated its rooms with a modern Incredibles theme, while the Polynesian completed a full Moana-inspired refresh. Verdict: Contemporary for first-timers (the walk to Magic Kingdom is priceless with kids); Polynesian for repeat visitors and couples who prioritise atmosphere and dining. Check both on the price comparison above -- the price gap varies significantly by season.
